Ways to Minimize Wedding Costs for Your Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids are making a pretty significant investment into your life and impending marriage by choosing to be apart of your special day. One of the greatest ways that you can honor that commitment is by making sure that you are keeping things as cost efficient as possible.

Let them pick their own dresses! A new trend is to simply allow your bridesmaids to pick their own dresses while you pick the color. You can still have them show you the dress for final approval.

Limit your guest list for your pre-wedding activities. There is nothing worse than spending a lot of money for the wedding as a bridesmaid and then having to finance a mini wedding as well. Try to keep your bridal shower and bachelorette party intimate to help keep costs low.

Gift them the accessories for the day. If you have some specific jewelry you would like for them to wear buy it for them! Make sure that it is something that they can wear after the wedding and that suits their tastes and style as well.

Do you have any other ideas for how you can save your bridesmaids money?

8 Ways to Honeymoon for Less

Source

So many couples focus much of their time and energy on the wedding and neglect to plan their honeymoon until most of their budget is tapped. For this reason, among others you see couples postponing their honeymoon. We have come up with a short list of ways to honeymoon for less.

  1. Consider a honeymoon registry. More and more couples are electing to forego traditional gifts and registries. There are several websites that cater specifically to couples that make it really easy to collect contributions.
  2. Go somewhere during its off season. Off-season does not necessarily mean that the weather will be bad. For some locations, the seasons are determined by when most people tend to or prefer to travel that particular place. Many destinations in the Caribbean for example have nice weather year-round. However, most people tend to travel during the first half of the year to escape low temperatures.
  3. Stay close to home. Ditch the whole concept of spending a ton of money and traveling far away. You can easily have the honeymoon of your dreams somewhere local. Think outside of the box. Many couples do not spend much time out of their hotel rooms, so why not splurge on a really nice suite and save money on plane tickets.
  4. You don’t have to fly. If you are staying within the country, consider a different form of transportation. A nice train ride or bus ride may be super fun and way less expensive.
  5. Book early. The further in advance you plan, the less money you are likely to spend. You can also take advantage of any deals and discounts that may pop up.
  6. Consider an all-inclusive honeymoon. Cruises, some resorts, etc. cover everything thing you need in one price. It can make booking more simple and allow you to focus more time, energy, and money elsewhere.
  7. Cook for yourself! Book accommodations that have cooking facilities. You can save so much money by cooking your own meals instead of eating out every meal.
  8. Tell them you are honeymooning! Some hotels, airlines, etc. will upgrade you if they know that you are celebrating your new marriage. Don’t be afraid to share your good news!

10 Wedding Budget Tips

Everyone knows that weddings have the potential to be extremely expensive. It is almost as though services and products are more expensive just because you include the word wedding. There are many ways to cut costs while planning your wedding. Take a look at 10 of the cost cutting solutions we have found recently.

  1. Only invite people to your wedding who are currently in your life. This is a big one. When a couple gets engaged it can sometimes seem like people come from out of nowhere expecting an invite. Your parents may want to invite distant family, old friends from high school suddenly pop back up, and even childhood friends come back.
  2. Send digital invites. This is a new day and age, embrace it! More and more couples are sending beautifully designed wedding invites! Consider saving money on postage and stationary by sending your invites online.
  3. Get a day of coordinator instead of a wedding planner. There are a ton of resources out there if you would like to plan your wedding yourself and opt for a day of coordinator instead. You may potentially miss out on some of the connections that a planner may have and experience more planning related stress, but it may be worth it if you are willing to put in the work and have a great support team!
  4. Skip the wedding altogether! Considering eloping or holding a small ceremony for close family and friends only. You will save thousands by not having a big wedding!
  5. Create a few signature drinks. If you must have alcohol, but want to keep costs low create a few drinks that your guests can choose from.
  6. Pick a location that is naturally beautiful. You can save so much on decor and set up if you chose a location for your wedding that has built in decor. A beautiful park or a picturesque historic building would fit the bill nicely.
  7. Enlist the assistance of your family and friends. Assign tasks to family members. For instance if your sister loves to bake ask her to make your cake or other wedding desserts.
  8. Buy wholesale flowers. Check out local farmer’s markets, wholesalers, or a flower farm for the best deals.
  9. Consider alternative centerpieces. If you all love reading or met in the library consider stacking some books with a nice vase and simple flower arrangement in the center of your tables instead of the more traditional centerpiece elements.
  10. Share with other brides. There are so many online sites where brides can communicate and share ideas, resources, and wedding items. Join one and see what deals you can make with other brides.

The options for saving on a wedding are limitless! Think outside of the box! It is your wedding, do things your way!
