When most moms learn of their daughter's engagement they are over the moon excited. Some may flashback to their own wedding day or recall their dreams for their own weddings. Others may remember the day you were born and the feelings they had and dreams they had for you. Many want to be involved in the planning of your wedding but are not sure how to without over stepping. Take a look at the following tips for involving your mother in the planning of your big day.
Consider her strengths.
What are some of the things that your mother does well? Perhaps she can bake really well. Let her bake the cake for your rehearsal dinner or bridal shower. If she is an excellent planner, allow her to work with your bridemaids to plan your bridal events.
Give her complete control over a wedding related party or event.
Let her completely plan your bridal shower or in the case of your mother in law, let her plan the rehearsal dinner. Give her a task and full reign of everything involved.
Use her wedding dress.
Not many brides would still wear their mother's wedding dress for the 70s or 80s. However, there are ways that you can still incorporate her dress. You can take a swatch from her dress and have it sown onto yours.
Go dress shopping.
Take a day out of your schedule to shop specifically for your mother's dress for the wedding. Make it a special day just for her.
What are some more ideas that you have for including your mother in the wedding planning process?
