June is one of the most popular months to get married and believe it or not, this is not a recent phenomenon. The history behind June weddings dates all the way back to Roman times. Check out some of these interesting facts/myths about the history behind June weddings:
  •  The Romans celebrated the goddess Juno, the wife of Jupiter and goddess of marriage and childbirth on June 1st
  •  May was the month during the 1400s and 1500s that the community came out from a long winter and participated in a cleansing bath… It is a good idea to marry when everyone smells good!
  • When people married in June they typically conceived and gave birth to children in the spring, which increased their chances of survival during those times. Giving birth in the Spring after a June wedding also allowed the bride time to recover in time for the fall harvest
  • June was a good time to take advantage of beautiful weather and new crops/flowers for a celebration

Whether or not all of these things are true, June continues to be the most popular month to marry. Were/Are you a June bride? Why did you choose a particular month or date to marry?
